Born in 1960, Osaka. Before graduating from the Department of Medicine at the University of Tokyo in 1985, Wada Hideki was already successful as a manager of cram schools. From 1991, he worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry of the University of Tokyo Hospital, and studied at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry in the U.S. He writes numerous educational books. Wada, who is greatly acclaimed and also prevalent in the media as a professor and psychiatrist, was chosen as one of the international advisor committee members of the Korean Institute of Social Psychiatry. In his 11th grade, he decided to be a filmmaker and went to the medical department, and in his university days he started the education business to build up the funds for film productions.

Story
IGARASHI Toru is acclaimed as a charismatic teacher at his cram school. He is famous, rich, and puffed up with pride. But one day, he is told that he has a terminal cancer and gets only 18 months remaining.

On the way home from the hospital, he encounters a poor girl, Maki, 16 year old, at 99 yens shop. She was negotiating with a shop staff. Overlooking, Igarashi immediately notices her talent of mathematical scheme. Maki, on the other hand, is in the situation where she was forced to drop out of a high school to feed her loafing mother and herself, thus she can not see any potentiality in herself.

After seeing Maki off, when he steps in that small cram school for the first time in a long while, he makes his mind to make Maki enter the most difficult and the top level university in Japan, the University of Tokyo, as his last will…
