INTRODUCTION
Three women, one city: A triptych of longing and liberation.
Tokyo Noir is a haunting anthology that navigates the labyrinth of modern loneliness. Directed by Masato Ishioka and Naoto Kumazawa, the film traces the intersecting lives of three women searching for intimacy and identity, capturing the "noir" that exists within the human heart.
THE THREE STORIES
Part 1: Birthday (Dir: Naoto Kumazawa) Isolated by her uncompromising work ethic and haunted by her father’s disappearance, 34-year-old Mari feels discarded by the modern world. After a transformative encounter with a mysterious hairdresser, she enters a clandestine world, seeking out men who resemble her lost father in a desperate attempt to fill a decades-old void.
Part 2: Girl’s Life (Dir: Masato Ishioka) Miyuki, a college student working at a massage parlor, struggles to maintain control over her life after a painful breakup. When her ex-boyfriend appears as a client and questions her choices, Miyuki’s repressed emotions explode in a raw, undeniable scream for autonomy.
Part 3: Night Lovers (Dir: Masato Ishioka & Naoto Kumazawa) On the verge of a breakdown after her boyfriend vanishes, Nao becomes obsessed with the online diary of another woman also named "Nao"—a professional lover leading a double life. Through this obsession, she is forced to confront a hidden, carnal side of herself long suppressed in the name of "pure love."
