INTRODUCTION

A pioneer of regional revitalization, Blossoming Into A Family was born from the vision of Mishima's citizens. Director Hiroki Hayashi partnered with the community and Japan's premier cinematic talent—such as Kenji Takama and Kazuko Kurosawa—to transform Shizuoka’s heritage into a professional masterpiece. It is a heartfelt tribute to the power of grassroots filmmaking.

STORY

Love, like a magnificent tree, grows stronger as its roots run deep into the soul of Mishima.

Ito, a mother who raised two daughters in an era when women held little independence, has spent her life in a silent, inner dialogue with her late husband. This sixty-year journey follows their family’s evolution alongside the transformation of Japan—and the city of Mishima—from the 1920s to the 1980s.
Set against the backdrop of Mishima’s pristine waters and historic streets, the film captures the resilience of a family and a community. It is a story of roots: how the love within a home and the bonds within a town sustain one another through generations.
