1. Company Evolution
Heading: Bridging Japanese Cinema to the World: 30 Years as Producer and Agent
Founded in 1996, Gold View has operated as a pioneer in the Japanese film industry. Our history is defined by constant evolution, staying ahead of the curve to connect independent creators with the global stage.
A Pioneer in International Sales:
Since our inception, we have established "Overseas Sales" as a core pillar alongside production. In the late 90s, we served as the primary "window to the world" for edgy, independent filmmakers, bringing their unique voices to international film festivals and markets.
From Live-Action to Education & Animation:
Our productions, such as our theatrical debut Scout ♀Man (Pain), have garnered high acclaim, including invitations to the Venice International Film Festival. Under the leadership of Masato Ishioka—who also fosters the next generation of animators at Kyoto Seika University—our scope has deepened to include documentaries and animation, blending professional production with academic insight.
2. Company Concept
Heading: Timeless Japanese Masterpieces to the World
Gold View’s mission is to directly link uncompromising authorship with the global marketplace.
- Pursuing Artistic Depth: We value "author-driven films" that explore subcultures and the depths of the human psyche. This is evidenced by works like YOYOCHU: In The Land Of Rising Sex and the documentary Animation Maestro: Gisaburo Sugii, which touch the very core of expression.
- Revitalizing Classics & Archives: We are dedicated to rediscovering "Timeless Japanese Masterpieces," such as the cult classic Belladonna of Sadness. Our mission is to breathe new life into these gems through digital archiving and international distribution for modern audiences.
- The Creative Pioneer: Through our trinity of activities—Production, Agency, and Education—we continue to bridge the gap between undiscovered talent and the global audience, pioneering new possibilities for Japanese cinema.
